Where these characters come from
Enclosed alphanumerics were encoded for East Asian typography, where circled numbers are a standard way to mark list items and footnotes. The digits came first and start at one, which is why zero had to be added separately later and sits in a different part of the block.
What people use bubble text for
Circled letters are a soft, playful style used on younger-skewing accounts and in casual servers. They also work structurally: circled letters make usable section markers in a long bio because each one reads as a bullet rather than as part of the text.

How to get bubble text
- Type or paste your words into the box above.
- Find the Bubble row — it is the first one — and press Copy.
- Paste it wherever you need it. The style travels with the text, because you are carrying different characters rather than formatting.
Nothing is installed and nothing is sent anywhere. If the text arrives plain instead of styled, the receiving field normalised it; that happens for a specific reason and no tool can prevent it.
The same thing goes by several names — circled text, circle letters — and they all describe this one technique. There is no settled term, because nobody named these character sets for this purpose in the first place.

Bubble vs Bubble Filled
Outlined circles stay readable in a sentence; filled circles do not. Use Bubble for text and Bubble Filled for one or two characters that need to act as markers.

Known problems with bubble text
Circled characters have patchy font coverage outside East Asian fonts, so a reader on a minimal Linux desktop or an older Android build may see rectangles.
These characters fail in four distinct ways across all styles — normalisation, missing font coverage, stripped combining marks and mixed-script rejection.
These are not fonts, they are separate Unicode characters. Screen readers often read them wrong or skip them entirely. What that means.

Common questions
- Is bubble text a real font?
- No. These are separate Unicode characters that happen to look bubble. That is why the look survives copy and paste: you are not copying formatting, you are copying different characters.
- Will screen readers read this correctly?
- Usually not. Depending on the software the characters are spelled out with technical names or skipped entirely. Use the style for decoration, not for anything that has to be understood.
