Bio 70 characters, 140 with Premium undocumented
First and last name 64 characters each undocumented

Telegram does not publish these in its FAQ. The Premium bio limit is double the standard one, which is worth knowing before you shorten anything. Checked 2026-10-03 against Telegram FAQ.

Worth knowing about Telegram

Telegram has its own message formatting, including monospace and spoilers. Outside Premium the 70-character bio is the tightest limit among the large platforms, which makes combining styles effectively unusable there.

Common questions

Can I use styled text in my Telegram username?
No. The username accepts only letters, numbers and underscores. Styled text works in the other fields listed above.
How much styled text fits in a Telegram bio?
The limit is 70 characters, 140 with Premium. Whatever the number, combining styles such as strikethrough and underline halve it, because each letter carries a second character and both are counted.
Are these Telegram limits official?
0 of 2 are stated in Telegram's own help pages; the rest are not documented and come from consistent third-party reports. The table above marks which is which. Limits change, so treat an undocumented number as a good estimate rather than a guarantee.
Why does it look different on someone else's phone?
Each device renders these characters with whatever font covers them. Where coverage is missing you get empty rectangles instead of letters, which is more common on older devices.
A note on screen readers

These styles are not fonts. They are separate Unicode characters that merely look like formatted letters, so a screen reader does not treat them as ordinary text: depending on the software they are spelled out character by character, announced by their technical names, or skipped altogether. Use them sparingly, and never for content that has to be understood. Full explanation.
